Registering & Username info:
If you become a member of the board, you must agree to follow all of the message board rules listed below (Rules are indicated with bullets • ).
If you use AOL, I recommend that you use a different email address when registering here. AOL has a very powerful spam filter that will sometimes block the ProBoards activation key email, even though it isn't spam. You will need your activation key to complete the registration process.
If you try to register, but you don't receive your activation key email (whether or not you use AOL), please look in your spam folder. If the activation key email isn't there, please scroll all the way to the bottom of this thread for step-by-step Registration Instructions.
It's your responsibility as a member of the board to read and follow the board rules. Any usernames, posts, avatars, or images which violate the board rules will be deleted. If you notice anything that you believe violates the board rules, please email me and I will investigate it as soon as possible. Do not reply to spammers or troublemakers - this only encourages them. Instead, send me a pm (personal message) addressed to admin and I will handle it.
Registering and Username Rules:
• Don't use any profanity in your username.
• Create a username at least 2 letters/characters in length. Usernames of only 1 character will be deleted.
• Don't register multiple times with different usernames or variations of the same username. Choose one account and stick with it. If I find duplicates obviously belonging to one person, I may delete both of them unless I can tell which one the person prefers to keep.
FYI: If you forget your username or password, or the password you're using doesn't work, go to the login screen and click the "Forgot password?" link. Your correct information will be emailed to you.
FYI: You can change the way your username appears to others on the boards by updating the "Display Name" in your profile.
FYI: Members can send me a pm by either selecting the "Members" button in the menu at the top of the boards and clicking the "send pm" (envelope) icon next to "Rhoswen," or by clicking the "send pm" icon in the mini-profile to the left of my posts. IMPORTANT: Address pm's to me to admin, not to Rhoswen.

Spoilers & Spoiler Tags:
• Please don't copy/paste entire spoiler threads word-for-word from my board to other web sites. I won't mind at all if you take a few spoilers to post elsewhere, but if you're taking more than that, please ask me first.
• Please credit my site for the spoilers you repost elsewhere: http://deadwoodstage.proboards34.com or www.deadwoodstage.proboards34.com.
• Don't include spoilers in your thread titles. For example, you may say "Spoilers for episode 4" in a thread title, but don't say "Doc dies in episode 4."
• Always use Spoiler Tags when discussing spoilers on the boards that don't have "Spoilers" in their title. Spoiler Tags hide spoilers until the "Spoiler: click to reveal" bar hiding them is clicked. Always "preview" your posts containing spoilers before you actually post them.
FYI: You do not need to use spoiler tags on the spoiler boards (the boards that specifically have the word "Spoilers" in their title).
FYI: To use spoiler tags: In your reply post, either (1) Highlight your spoiler text and click the tag, then type your spoiler between the and tags in your post, or (2) type [ spoiler ] before your spoiler and [ /spoiler ] after your spoiler (except leave out the spaces).
Look below to see an example of how a spoiler should appear in your post. Click to read the spoiler text below. (Don't worry, you won't read an actual spoiler in the example):
Non-spoilery, safe-to-read, completely harmless text
FYI: What's a 'spoiler'? A spoiler is information from any persons, tv guides, magazines, the internet, or newspapers that reveals details about episodes before they air in the U.S. That includes information about episode titles and descriptions, actors who will be appearing in shows, roles being cast, promotional pictures of upcoming episodes or future characters, and information about plotlines or specific dialogue from the shows. Exceptions to this are HBO's own episode previews, HBO's television commercials for the shows, and anything promotional HBO puts on their website, HBO.com. If you need further clarification, please email me.
FYI: In the spoiler threads, the newest spoilers will be in blue text and marked NEW. As newer spoilers are posted, older spoilers will be changed to black text. My speculation and opinions will be in purple text.

Pictures/Images:
• Don't hotlink to the images on these boards in order to post them elsewhere. If you want to take any images to use for fanart or to post elsewhere, please save copies of them to your computer, and use those copies. If you hotlink to pictures posted here, and I happen to delete or change my coding for them, your links won't work anymore. Hotlinking causes the images and pages to load more slowly, so please don't do it.
• If you do post my screencaps or the promotional photos elsewhere, please credit my site: http://deadwoodstage.proboards34.com or deadwoodstage.proboards34.com.
• You are welcome to post images on these boards, but please don't hotlink to pictures you find elsewhere on the web (don't use another site's urls for its pictures). That steals that other site's bandwidth. Please only post images you have saved and hosted elsewhere, unless a site owner has given you permission to hotlink to their images.
• Images containing nudity and/or profanity are not allowed and will be deleted. Posting of images containing nudity will result in you being banned from further posting on the boards.
• Limit the size of photos/images (other than avatars) you include in your posts to 600 pixels high and/or 600 pixels wide.
• You may post clickable thumbnails that open images larger than 400 x 550 pixels when they are clicked on. Please post thumbnails for large pictures whenever you can, so pages and threads won't take forever to load for folks with dial-up service.
• Your signature may contain one image only, which can be up to 175 pixels high x 600 pixels wide.
FYI: If you need a place to host your pictures, I recommend www.imageshack.us. It's the image hosting service I use for the images I post here, and it automatically creates a thumbnail for images larger than 200 x 200 pixels. But feel free to use whatever image host works best for you.

Post content and/or language:
• Keep your posts on-topic, according to the titles of the board and thread you're posting in.
• Don't post the same thing in several different boards/threads. Duplicate posts create confusion and other duplicate posts, because people don't know which to reply to. Duplicate posts will be deleted.
• Don't start a new thread just to post something that has already been posted in another thread.
• Please be respectful. No bashing of HBO, 'Deadwood,' other HBO shows, the actors on the shows, the writers, the crew, or anyone else involved with these shows is allowed. Criticism is perfectly ok, but in a respectful way.
• No bashing of other posters on this board is allowed. No bashing of other websites is allowed.
• Don't use any profanity in the thread titles or as part of your username.
• If you feel you must use profanity in your signature or in your profile's personal text, use ***'s instead of spelling out the word.
• You may type swears/profanity in your posts, but the board has a language filter that will change certain words to include asterisks.
• Do not post just for the sake of using profanity. Posts in which every other word contains ****'s will be deleted.
• Do not use spaces, /'s, or other characters between letters in order to spell out profanity, attempting to avoid the language filter.
• Don't ask me to remove the language filter. Unless ProBoards changes its Terms Of Service, the filter stays, and profanity must be "hidden" by using ***'s.
• This board is not ebay. Posts from folks or links to sites not authorized by HBO to sell or trade HBO-related merchandise, artwork, tapes or dvd's of episodes will be deleted. Posts from folks seeking to buy, sell, or trade unauthorized HBO-related items will be removed. Links to HBO-authorized and licensed merchandise and stores/vendors are fine.
FYI: Please understand that I do not want this board to be deleted for violating ProBoards' language and content rules. If your posts or profile put this board in jeopardy, your posts will be deleted and you risk being banned.

Board Avatars:
There are many ready-made avatars (grouped by show for Deadwood and ROME characters, followed by some miscellaneous cartoons) available for you to choose from for your profile, but you aren't limited to using those. If you want to create your own avatar, here are the rules:
• Avatars cannot contain nudity or profanity, and any that do will be deleted.
• Do not directly link to a picture or avatar you find elsewhere on the web. That steals the other site's bandwidth. You may publish your avatar picture online at http://www.imageshack.us/ (or some other photo hosting website), and link to it from there.
• Your avatar (the picture under your name in your posts) can be up to 120 x 120 pixels.
FYI: Avatar settings are part of your profile. Your profile settings say that the maximum avatar size is 100 x 100 pixels, but I've modified the board's coding to allow up to 120 x 120 pixels.
Well, folks, here endeth the board rules - I appreciate your taking the time to read them The posts below mostly contain other info that people may find useful.
Thanks, and I hope to see you on the boards!

Registration Instructions for anyone who doesn't receive the activation key email; AOL users, please start with step #1. If you aren't using AOL, please skip to step #3:
1. If you are using AOL, minimize your AOL browser window and open a different browser like Internet Explorer. I haven't tried Netscape as a browser in this situation, but it may work, too. Continue to step #3, and follow the rest of the instructions using this other browser instead of AOL.
If you aren't using AOL as your internet service provider, begin with step #2:
2. If you don't have a Yahoo.com email account, please register for one. If you already have a Yahoo account, continue to step #3:
3. Login to the board again, and when you are asked for your activation key, click that you want to update/change your email address.
4. Type in your Yahoo email address and click the "Send New Activation Code" button.
5. Your activation key should be received within 10 minutes at your Yahoo email address. It may take a little longer due to traffic, but should take no longer than 24 hours.
If you still are unable to complete the registration process after following all of these instructions and waiting at least 24 hours for your activation key:
6. Check to see if you're using additional spam filter software that is blocking ProBoards emails, or if your email settings are blocking ProBoards emails.
7. Contact your internet service provider for additional help in adjusting your spam filter settings so that you can receive ProBoards emails.
