    Episode Spoilers:

    Episode 101, "Stockholm Syndrome":

    • 4/23/2009 - The pilot centers on Jonathan (Jason Schwartzman), a struggling thirtysomething writer with a drinking problem in Brooklyn who, following a painful breakup with his girlfriend, decides to emulate his heroes from the novels of Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett. He takes out an ad pretending to be a private detective and starts taking cases -- solving some and making others worse. (source: Production Weekly) When his girlfriend dumps him, it triggers an early mid-life crisis for a neurotic Manhattan writer. He addresses it by indulging in drugs and drink and finally by advertising on Craigslist as a private detective and trying to solve the mysteries in other people's lives - with varying degrees of success. (source: inbaseline.com)

    • 7/30/2009 - Jonathan Ames, a young Brooklyn writer, is feeling lost. He's just gone through a painful break-up, thanks in part to his drinking, can't write his second novel, and carouses too much with his magazine editor. Rather than face reality, Jonathan turns instead to his fantasies – moonlighting as a private detective – because he wants to be a hero and a man of action.

Mixing noir mystery and neurotic humor, BORED TO DEATH opens with Jonathan's girlfriend, Suzanne (Olivia Thirlby), moving out of their apartment in Brooklyn, on the grounds that Jonathan devotes too much time to smoking pot and drinking white wine instead of focusing on his writing and their relationship. As Jonathan returns to his empty apartment, a neighbor who witnessed the parting suggests he look for a rebound date on Craigslist.

After sifting through his abundant supply of noir suspense novels, Jonathan idly decides to offer his services as a private detective on the site instead. As responses to Jonathan's Craigslist post roll in, he begins taking cases – and usually finds himself injecting his own personal problems into his client's situation.

Jonathan's needy boss, magazine editor George Christopher, frequently interferes with his newfound career, forcing him to work his cases in increasingly ludicrous ways. Jonathan also meets regularly with his best friend Ray, a struggling graphic artist who does his best to advise him, but can barely keep his own life together.

    • 8/7/2009 - Numbed after his girlfriend Suzanne (Olivia Thirlby) moves out, writer Jonathan Ames (Jason Schwartzman) peruses his favorite Raymond Chandler novel, “Farewell, My Lovely,” and is inspired to place an ad on Craigslist offering his (unlicensed) services as a private investigator. Within hours he gets his first case, involving a 19-year-old girl's desperate search for her missing sister.
Written by Jonathan Ames; directed by Alan Taylor.

    • 4/23/2009 - Roles cast:

-Jonathan Ames (played by Jason Schwartzman)

-George Christopher (played by Ted Danson) - Jonathan's best friend and mentor, a "pompous but articulate magazine editor." (source: tvjab.com) George's magazine is Edition NY.

    -Ray (played by Zach Galifianakis)

    -Leah (played by Heather Burns)

    Episode 102, "The Alanon Case":

    • 8/7/2009 - During an unsuccessful attempt to win back Suzanne, Jonathan gets a a new case: a woman named Jennifer (Kristen Wiig) wants him to tail her boyfriend Gary (Peter Hermann) to see if heʼs been unfaithful. After learning that he and Jennifer share a common pastime (drinking), Jonathan heads out in search of her boyfriend – with uncomfortable results.
Written by Jonathan Ames; directed by Alan Taylor.

Episode 104 103, "The Case of the Missing Screenplay":

    • 6/13/2009: (A scene from "The Case of the Stolen Skateboard" was reshot as part of episode 4 instead of 3, so until I find additional information, I'm assuming that the order of episodes 3 and 4 was simply switched.)

NEW 9/1/2009 - At a New York film-society party, George introduces Jonathan to filmmaker Jim Jarmusch, a fan of Jonathan’s first book, who is interested in having him rewrite a screenplay. Later, after leaving his personalized script in a therapist’s (Denis O’Hare) office during an ill-advised late-night tryst with a (very) young party girl (Vanessa Ray), Jonathan convinces Ray to pose as a patient in order to retrieve it. Meanwhile, George is flummoxed when he runs into his sexy ex-wife Priscilla (Laila Robins) and her arrogant new husband, fellow publishing magnate Richard Antrem (Oliver Platt).
Written by Jonathan Ames; directed by Michael Lehmann.

    • 4/23/2009; UPDATED 4/24/2009: Roles:

-Claudia - Jonathan meets her in a bar. She brings him back to her house (she lives with her father). She had told Jonathan that she was 21, but she turns out to be only 16, and Jonathan freaks when he finds out. Claudia's father catches them together, but Jonathan escapes out the bathroom window just in time. He soon discovers that he left the screenplay, which had been in his pocket, behind the couch in Claudia's house.

-Dr. Worth - Claudia's father. He's a therapist. Jonathan sets up a therapy session with him so that he can reach behind the couch and get the script back. But Dr. Worth has found the script and figured out that Jonathan was the man with Claudia.

-Miriam - She flirts with George while Jonathan talks with Jim Jarmusch, who hands Jonathan one of his screenplays to read and revise.

-Priscilla - George's ex-wife from many years ago. She's now married to Richard Antrem. She tries to talk George into either backing out of the fight with Richard or purposely losing because Richard has a heart condition.

-Richard Antrem - He's married to George's ex-wife Priscilla and is the new editor of GQ. He challenges George to a boxing match, and George accepts.

    • 4/29/2009 - Paul Gosselin plays a waiter in a scene with Ted Danson and Oliver Platt that takes place in a private club. (source: paulgosselin.net)

Meanwhile, Ray agrees to help a lesbian couple (Rosie Benton, Jenn Harris) start a new family, to his wife Leah’s (Heather Burns) chagrin, and George has a nostalgic “armpit crush” on a young publicist (Emily Wickersham) he hopes to woo at the opening of a new Brooklyn restaurant. -Chef

-Francisco - He takes Allison's son David's skateboard.

-Kid - 15 years old. Jonathan asks him if he knows where Francisco likes to skateboard.

Lisa and Michelle are a lesbian couple who are trying to have a baby, and Ray is donating his sperm to them; they are there to pick up Ray's first sperm donation. Leah explains to Jonathan that Ray is in the bathroom masturbating. Leah talks to Jonathan about his being a private detective, and asks him if he can help a friend of hers whose son's skateboard has been stolen. Ray finishes, and after an argument between Ray and Leah in which the sperm sample cup is dropped and almost spilled, Ray places it safely in the cooler. Leah is not happy about Ray donating sperm. UPDATED 6/13/2009: (This scene with Lisa and Michelle was modified, and reshot as part of episode 4 instead of 3, so "The Case of the Stolen Skateboard" is now most likely episode 4. Until I find additional information, I'm assuming that the order of episodes 3 and 4 was simply switched.)

NEW 9/1/2009 - A smitten Russian parolee (Lev Gorn) contracts Jonathan to track down a chanteuse (Branka Katic) known as “the Lonely White Dove.” After a vodka-fueled reconnaissance mission at the Brighton Beach restaurant where the singer works, Jonathan persuades Suzanne – along with Ray and Leah – to join him there for dinner the next night, without revealing his true purpose. Meanwhile, George decides to get in touch with his feminine side as a way to drive sales of his sagging magazines.
Written by Jonathan Ames & Donick Cary; directed by Paul Feig.

    • 4/23/2009; UPDATED 4/26/2009: Roles:

-Dimitri - A Russian man who hires Jonathan to find a woman who was the love of his life before he went to prison. He only knew her for one night, and only knows her stage name: Irenna, the Lonely White Dove. She was a singer. After the thugs attack Dimitri, Jonathan comes to his aid with the help of brass knuckles that Ray had let him borrow (Jonathan throws them at the Weasel, hitting his nose).

-Escort - George meets with this handsome, muscular male escort in order to get in touch with his feminine side, because his magazine has lost almost half of its women readers and George wants to figure out how to reach them. The escort suggests that George read Klaus Kinski's autobiography. Later, George, Jonathan, and the Escort watch "The Inspector General," one of Danny Kaye's films, at George's house.

-Irenna - She used to sing as Irenna, the Lonely White Dove, at a Russian club, but she changes her stage name every year and now she's Nadya, the Lonely Sparrow. She agrees to meet with Dimitri, but she secretly blames him for her brother being in prison.
